The strength training in people with multiple sclerosis helps fight disease and improve quality of life, at least it demonstrates a program promoted by a team of professionals led by University of Leon Burgalesa the Multiple Sclerosis Association Asbem.

This is a program of strength training lasting two and half months with the participation of 20 affected in the initial stage of the disease, which after ten weeks of practice has proven quite effective, so they have been several patients who have improved their strength and thus their ability to do certain things.

Dr. Jose Alfonso de Paz, director of the team from the University of León, explains that for six years conducted studies in this area and it is now that the methodology is applied to patients affected by multiple sclerosis.

The specialist explains that what they do is train the force, because they saw that the people affected by multiple sclerosis which have more deficits in the strength is not in the resistance, of course, a person with MS has poor resistance, but because your muscles are weak. So to improve their quality of life the first thing to do is work force.

Those involved in the program underwent an exercise activity for two days a week using a multistation machine in an individualized strength training like that would make anyone who was not affected by multiple sclerosis.

After two months of training compared the data obtained and the result is quite encouraging: More than half have improved the strength-endurance or ability to overcome a weight many times, in fact some have improved to 150% and may do many more repetitions.

Because of time that has made the program, participants have made small changes, underscoring the importance of training to achieve the maximum possible for each patient, and then continue with an exercise program long-term maintenance .

People affected by multiple sclerosis obtained with this training program improvement, or at least stability, after several weeks may do things that previously could not, and to maintain these benefits over time is necessary for this training is conducted a regular basis so that their welfare and quality of life is best.
